Why Egg Freezing?
Egg freezing is a solution for women who want to delay pregnancy for medical or elective reasons. Freezing eggs at a younger age allows women to take advantage of the high quality of their young eggs and high pregnancy rates for future use. Women often want to delay their pregnancy to pursue personal or career goals. They may also want to freeze their eggs to preserve the opportunity to have more children in the future. Women who are diagnosed with cancer may want to freeze their eggs to give them an option of pregnancy in the future. Some chemotherapy and radiation may be toxic and impair the ovaries, compromising the quality of a woman’s eggs.
Egg freezing is the best solution for women who are not ready for pregnancy, but want to have a biological child of their own in the future. The process of egg freezing is similar to that of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). However, rather than fertilizing the egg after it has been aspirated, it is flash frozen and stored.
